Our History
Preserving the life and legacy of the Carbon River Corridor
In 1981, Dr. Jess Rose and his wife, Maxine, realized their dream of opening a museum dedicated to the history and people of Buckley. It was first opened in the Annex of the old Buckley High School on A St. In 1983, the former McCaskey Funeral Home was rescued from demolition by the Society and renovated into the present museum. Over the years, the Society’s dedicated volunteers have found and relocated other endangered historical buildings and machinery. These can be seen at the city land across from the museum on River Ave. The Society has always been run by volunteers and financed by donations and fundraising activities.
